On Wednesday (December 25, 2024), an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed near Aktau Airport in Kazakhstan. There were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board this plane. According to Reuters, the death toll has reached 38 and the lives of 29 people have been saved.
The Embraer 190 jet was going from Baku in Azerbaijan to Chechnya in Russia, but due to severe fog, the plane returned and was trying to make an emergency landing near Aktau Airport in Kazakhstan, when this accident happened. A survivor of the accident told that there was chaos in the plane just before the accident, although the plane staff was repeatedly telling us that everything was fine, nothing had happened and we were just about to land. There was a pop on the ship twice, we don’t know what it was, but there was a loud noise twice.
He told, ‘The plane returned from Chechnya to Kazakhstan and then went down. I remember everything from when we fell till that time, but then a time came and darkness covered my eyes, then I don’t know anything and when I woke up everything changed. When the plane was going down, we knew that we were falling and we were just waiting for death because what else can you expect in such a situation. The plane broke into two parts. We were in the tail section and our section fell 100-150 meters away. Then we tried to get out and help other passengers also.’
Another video of the plane has also surfaced, in which a passenger has recorded inside the plane before the incident. In the video, a woman’s voice is heard, who is quite nervous. In the video itself, it can be seen that all the passengers are lying here and there, some are under the seats, some are lying on the floor of the plane.
Sputnik correspondent had told on Wednesday that this accident happened due to collision with a flock of birds. The plane requested for emergency landing and was circling in the sky. The plane was repeatedly trying to go up, but then its direction changed and it moved rapidly downwards. A flock of birds hit the engine of the plane, after which the oxygen cylinder burst and a massive explosion occurred. In a video of the accident, it was seen that the plane fell rapidly on the ground and a massive fire broke out.
